Pratley Putty is exceptionally high strength, hand mouldable, putty-like adhesive

Description

Pratley Putty is an exceptionally high strength, hand mouldable, puttey like adhesive. Mixing equal proportions of the resin and hardener supplied in the form of sticks yields a versatile, quicksetting medium with 1001 uses.

(Pratley Quickset Putty differs from Pratlet Standard Putty by curing much faster – it is, however, not as easy to apply on underwater jobs and cannot be smoother as easily with wet finger).

Properties:

  • Very high strength.
  • Quicksetting.
  • Can be shaped and moulded.
  • Adheres to most rigid materials.
  • Once set can be sawn, filed, machined and sanded.
  • Accepts paint. Very good electrical insulator.
  • Will set underwater (Standard Pratley Putty is however better for underwater applications).
  • Withstands most chemicals, mild acids, oil, petrol, etc.

Time to Set (Temperature & Quantity Dependant):

  • Sets hard in + 15 minutes (at 23oc).
  • Should be applies within 8 minutes of mixing.
  • Reaches 75% strength in 4 hours.
  • Reaches full strength in 24 hours.

Surface Preparation:

Surfaces to be bonded must be free of loose dirt, rust, paint, oil and grease. Wirebrushing or sanding will substantially enhance adhesion to smooth surfaces.

Mixing Procedure:

  1. Place the sticks side by side without removing the wrapping. Simultaneously cut equal amounts of each stick with a sharp knife.
  2. Remove wrapping from cut parts.
  3. Roll both parts together in the hands, forming a ‘sausage’.
  4. Roll the ‘sausage’ into a ball and roll out again as a ‘sausage’.
  5. Repeat this operation until all the streaks have disappeared. (Thorough mixing is essential).
  6. Apply by dabbing and wiping ono the application surfaces.
  7. Build up the shape as necessary.
